Mike is an ordained Lutheran Pastor whose call to ministry came as a summer staff person at Camp Lutherock.  He was part of two capital appeals as a parish pastor and as VP of Advancement for Lutheridge + Lutherock Ministries, Mike helped raise over $14 million in immediate gifts in a ten year period of time.  In addition, through marketing work he helped LLMI achieve a 50/50 revenue split between summer camp revenue and non-camp revenue through significant marketing activities to diversify the groups utilizing the ministry sites.  Mike has achieved the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation and has spent significant study in the area of Marketing, Quality Service, and Loyalty, including a course at the Disney Institute.

Church Stewardship/Fundraising: Mike spends considerable time working with congregations of many denominations, including Lutheran, Methodist, United Church of Christ and Episcopalian in the areas of stewardship and capital appeals.  Mike believes that strong giving starts with strong vision.  Developing congregational strategic ministry visions is also a passion for Mike.  Though the core portions of his campaigns are always consistent, congregations are very contextual and require a consultant that can determine what works best in the context of each particular church.  Mike has recently completed a $3 million congregational appeal for new space.  Another campaign recently raised 90% to a debt reduction appeal of what was given to the facility construction appeal just three years before.  In both cases strong vision provided the impetus for successful capital appeals.  Annual stewardship appeals require strong vision as well to help overcome scarcity thinking.

Strategic Visioning: Institutions and churches require strong vision.  Mike has been formally trained in leading visioning with the Lilly School of Fundraising at IUPUI.

Marketing:  It is getting harder and harder to have your message heard in todays cluttered society.  Mike led Lutheridge to more than double their off-season revenu and achieve a 50/50 revenue split between non-summer and summer camp guests.  Mike works with setting marketing strategy as well as sales planning.  He is also adept at opening new markets for organizations.
